Capturing women who traveled from across North-East Nigeria to gather in Kaduna, these images document a bond that transcends distance. From the shared sacrifice of sleeping in makeshift hostels to the quiet strength found in their collective faith, this project is a visual tribute to a sisterhood where every woman is seen, supported, and safe.

The Story Behind the Shoot
While many recognize the Zumunta Mata for their powerful choral performances, the true essence of the organization lies in its grit and devotion. For this gathering, women traveled hundreds of miles from across the North-East, leaving the comforts of home to sleep in makeshift hostels just to be together. I wanted to document this pilgrimage—the physical and spiritual journey of women who see every mile traveled as an act of faith and every shared meal as a renewal of their bond.
Visually, I focused on the "clustering"—the way these women naturally gravitate toward one another like siblings in a crowded room. The creative direction highlights the ever-present religious symbology woven into their daily lives and the goods they trade. By choosing to capture them in their rawest, most candid moments of rest and conversation, the shoot reveals a solid, impenetrable community where women feel entirely safe in each other’s company.
